A shift puts one driver in one vehicle for set hours on one day. Drivers see their shifts in the driver app, and Ryder Go only plans with drivers who have one. Set up regular shifts once and they repeat every week.
Add a shift
At the bottom of the menu on the left, select Settings. Under Operations, select Crew schedule. Each vehicle has a row, and the day’s shifts sit on it along the hours.
Pick the day in the week at the top. The arrows move a week at a time.
Select an empty part of a vehicle’s row, or Add shift at the top right. Add a shift opens.
Under Vehicle and driver, pick the Vehicle and the Driver, like Van 1 and Luis Ortega.
Under When, check the Date, and set Starts and Ends. A new shift starts at 8:00 AM and ends at 5:00 PM until you change it.
Select Add shift. The shift shows here, on the Dispatch board and in the driver’s app.
Repeat a shift every week
In Add a shift, turn on Repeats every week. Under Every week on, select the days, like Mon, Wed and Fri, and set the hours. For different hours on some days, select Different hours on some days?. Pick an Until date, or leave it empty to keep it going. Then select Add weekly shifts.
If Luis already drives Van 1 every week, the form shows those days, and saving updates them.
Change a shift
Select a shift to open Edit shift. Change the vehicle, driver or hours, then select Save changes.
- One day or every week: for a weekly shift, turn on Change every Wednesday (or whichever day it is) to change all of them, then select Save every Wednesday. Leave it off to change only that day.
- Trips that can’t stay: if the new driver or vehicle can’t take some of the shift’s trips, the form lists them and why. Move anyway sends them back to Unassigned.
- Remove a day: select Remove shift. Its trips go back to Unassigned.
- After the shift starts: the vehicle can’t change here, but the driver can switch vehicles in the driver app. You can still swap the driver or select End shift.
To pause, restart or end someone’s weekly shifts, select Weekly shifts at the top, then select the driver. Use Pause, Resume or Stop repeating.
Add a break
Breaks go on the Dispatch board. Open the ⋮ menu on the driver’s row and select Add a break. Set the Start time and End time, turn on Paid break if you pay for it, and select Add break. Ryder Go plans around it, and the driver starts and ends it in the app.
Read the schedule
- Blue is scheduled, green is driving now, and gray is done.
- A repeat icon marks a weekly shift. A pencil marks a day you changed on its own.
- Dashed blocks are weekly shifts further ahead. Select one to change them.
Good to know
- A shift ends by midnight. For work after midnight, add a shift for the next day.
- HealthRide asks before trips lose their driver. Removing, pausing or stopping shifts sends those days’ trips back to Unassigned, and you see which shifts come off first.
- You can also work from the Dispatch board. The ⋮ menu on a driver’s row has Edit shift (or Add shift when they have none). The calendar button at the top right opens the Crew schedule on the board’s day.
- Who can plan shifts: owners, admins and dispatchers.
