How to become a Veyo transportation provider in 2026
Veyo is now part of MTM Health, which closed its purchase on August 1, 2022. Transportation companies join through the Veyo Provider Network or MTM Health's application and are credentialed like any MTM provider. Independent drivers join as VeyoRide drivers: at least 21, licensed for three years, with a clean record, a smartphone, a four-door car that passes inspection, a drug screen, a background check, and CPR and First Aid.

Who Veyo is today
Veyo was a San Diego NEMT broker founded in 2015. It built its model on independent driver-providers, gig drivers using their own cars, working next to traditional transportation companies. When the purchase closed, MTM described Veyo as the third largest broker in the industry.
MTM Health, then MTM, announced the deal in June 2022 and closed it on August 1, 2022. Together the two companies said they would serve 15.4 million members in 31 states and D.C. with nearly 21 million trips a year. MTM has grown since. Its 2026 figures are in our MTM Health guide.
Today Veyo is an MTM Health affiliate. The practical effects for providers:
- Independent drivers join as VeyoRide drivers. The old Veyo IDP program took that name, and MTM recruits these drivers through Veyo.
- Transportation companies join MTM Health’s networks. Veyo’s provider page also still takes sign-ups from fleets.
- Programs Veyo ran now belong to MTM. Connecticut’s HUSKY Health NEMT is the clearest example: MTM Health operates it since the acquisition, with the same member phone number.
Where Veyo operates in 2026
VeyoRide recruits drivers in ten states: Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Each has its own driver login.
Those markets line up with MTM Health’s programs. MTM runs statewide Medicaid NEMT in Connecticut, Missouri, and Wisconsin, runs Florida’s fee-for-service regions B through F, and serves Medicaid plans in Texas, Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio. How to join as a transportation company
A company with its own drivers and vehicles joins the network as a commercial provider.
- Apply. Use the sign-up on Veyo’s provider page or the application on MTM Health’s join-our-network page. MTM recruits market by market, and if it has no immediate need, it keeps your details on file.
- Credential. Veyo requires every transportation provider to complete HIPAA, PHI, ADA, CPR, and customer service training, and to pass background checks, drug testing, and annual vehicle inspections. In MTM markets, MTM’s state insurance minimums apply, from $1 million to $2 million each for general and auto liability depending on the state.
- Contract and onboard. A network representative handles contracting, and a dedicated provider support partner stays with your account.
- Work trips in the provider portal. The Veyo Provider Portal manages vehicles, drivers, and trips. In MTM markets, trips come through MTM Link, which also connects to several outside dispatch systems.

How to join as a VeyoRide driver
VeyoRide is the rideshare side of the network. Drivers are independent contractors who use their own cars, much like a transportation network company driver, but with healthcare credentials.

Pickup trucks, pickup crossovers, lifted vehicles, and larger SUVs are not accepted. A wheelchair accessible van can be used after you tell Veyo support. Veyo does not require special insurance and recommends a rideshare endorsement on your personal policy. Veyo says drivers are covered by commercial liability insurance.
The sign-up runs online. You upload your license, insurance, and registration by phone camera, Veyo runs the background check, and you finish the inspection, training, CPR, and payment setup. Veyo says onboarding usually takes three to seven days.
How trips and pay work
VeyoRide drivers set their hours in the driver app, and trips are assigned only during those hours. Most trips run between 5 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The app handles GPS tracking and trip details on the phone, with no extra hardware.
MTM Health says most VeyoRide drivers earn $15 to $25 an hour. Pay depends on trip length, surge rates apply at peak times, and MTM takes no commission. Riders are not expected to tip, and MTM says it pays a higher per-mile rate to make up for it. Payments go out electronically once a week. Sign-on bonuses vary by market.
Transportation companies are paid under their MTM agreement. In Wisconsin, for example, MTM pays weekly by direct deposit, and MTM does not pay for no-shows.
What changed in 2025 and 2026
VeyoRide became the deciding issue in a state procurement. In July 2025, South Carolina announced its intent to award its statewide NEMT contract to MTM. The contract barred the broker from providing rides itself or through a provider it has a financial relationship with. On October 2, 2025, the Chief Procurement Officer found that VeyoRide, as an MTM affiliate program, fell under that bar, ruled MTM’s proposal nonresponsive, and sent the procurement back.
Federal rules for state broker programs, in 42 CFR 440.170, carry the same limit, with narrow exceptions such as rural areas with no other qualified provider. Running your own fleet alongside VeyoRide
Fleets that take MTM trips next to VeyoRide drivers compete on reliability and records. HealthRide’s driver app timestamps each pickup and drop-off, records GPS miles, captures signatures on screen, and keeps the recorded wait time on no-shows. The trip log exports as CSV or PDF from reports.
