How to become a Verida transportation provider in 2026
To become a Verida transportation provider, submit its Request for Qualifications form with a driver list and a vehicle list. If Verida needs capacity in your region, it interviews you and asks for a business license, proof of liability insurance, background checks, drug screens, and driving records. Vehicles then pass a safety inspection, drivers finish Verida's training, and the owner attends an orientation where the contract is signed.

Who Verida is
Verida, a minority-owned company, is a NEMT broker headquartered in Villa Rica, Georgia, west of Atlanta. Steve Adams founded it as Southeastrans more than 20 years ago. The company took the Verida name in 2022, the same year it moved into an 82,000-square-foot headquarters.
Verida manages Medicaid NEMT for state agencies, managed care plans, and some Medicare Advantage plans. It serves more than 3 million covered lives and schedules more than 5 million trips a year. Its network has more than 900 contracted providers with over 5,300 credentialed vehicles and drivers. Verida has held URAC accreditation since 2011 and is a PASS-certified company.
Verida says many of its employees and managers once worked as transportation providers.
Where Verida operates in 2026
Verida lists six markets. Georgia is by far the largest, and it grew in 2026.
| State | What Verida covers | Since or status |
|---|---|---|
| Georgia | Medicaid NEMT in all five regions: North, Atlanta, Central, East, and Southwest | Sole state broker since April 1, 2026, after taking Central, East, and Southwest from Modivcare |
| Indiana | All fee-for-service Medicaid members statewide | State broker for fee-for-service, split into northern and southern regions |
| Louisiana | Fee-for-service Medicaid members statewide | State broker for fee-for-service |
| Arkansas | Medicaid members in Regions A, B, C, and D, plus BlueMedicare Independence (HMO) members | Regional broker. Region G (Pulaski, Faulkner, and Lonoke counties) moved to Modivcare on January 2, 2026 |
| Tennessee | BlueCare and TennCareSelect members | Plan contract |
| District of Columbia | Health Services for Children with Special Needs (HSCSN) members | Plan contract |
In Georgia, DCH pays the broker a monthly capitated rate per eligible member. The broker recruits and contracts providers and pays them. Verida is not adding new providers in Mississippi or Texas.
How to become a Verida transportation provider
Verida uses a four-step process. Step 1 is open to anyone. The rest happen only if Verida needs capacity in your region.
- Send the Request for Qualifications. Fill out the online form and attach a driver list and a vehicle list. Verida reviews it against demand in your area. If there is a need, it calls you for an interview.
- Submit business documents. Verida asks for a current business license, proof of liability insurance, and driver credentials. Every driver needs a current criminal background check and motor vehicle report, and every owner and driver needs a current drug screen.
- Pass inspections and training. Verida schedules a full safety inspection of every vehicle once your documents clear. Drivers then complete eight required courses: CPR, First Aid, defensive driving, wheelchair securement, proper lifting techniques, spill kit training, passenger sensitivity and customer service, and driver orientation.
- Attend the owner orientation. The owner sits through a session on operating and contract rules, and the contract is signed at the end of it.
Our broker credentialing checklist keeps these documents in one place so you can reuse them with other brokers.
Verida requirements
Verida’s full training list goes beyond driving. It covers HIPAA privacy, business associate agreements, Title VI civil rights rules, wheelchair and stretcher handling, stretcher operation, bloodborne pathogens, mental health and substance abuse awareness, and driver and attendant conduct. Defensive driving comes from the National Safety Council, and Tennessee adds the AAA Driver Improvement Program.
Insurance limits vary by state. Verida’s general checklist:
| Item | What Verida looks for |
|---|---|
| Carrier | Rated A- or better |
| Auto policy | Every vehicle listed, with “All Owned, Hired, and Non-Owned” coverage |
| General liability | Policy number and dates, with $1 million sexual abuse and molestation coverage and a $2 million aggregate |
| Additional insured | Required in D.C., naming Verida and HSCSN, with primary and non-contributory wording and 30 days’ notice of cancellation |
| Workers’ comp | Listed on the D.C. checklist |
Georgia’s NEMT policy manual sets the driver floor for every Georgia broker. Drivers must be at least 21 with a valid license. No prior convictions for a sexual crime or a crime of violence are allowed. A DUI conviction in the last five years bars a driver, and so does a suspended or revoked license in the last five years. Two convicted moving violations or at-fault accidents remove a driver from service.
How trips reach you
Verida gives contracted providers free mobile devices, iPads in Georgia and Tennessee, loaded with its NET InSight app. The app tracks vehicles by GPS so Verida dispatchers can see where each vehicle is and when it will arrive. Providers also use the Verida provider portal.
Georgia’s policy manual sets the service rules Verida writes into provider agreements:
- Pickup. Arrive on time. You can arrive early, but the member does not have to board before the scheduled time. You do not have to wait more than 10 minutes past it.
- Will-call returns. Arrive within one hour of the call. See will-call trips.
- Shared rides. No member rides more than 45 minutes longer than the direct trip would take.
- Same-day and discharge trips. Pick up within three hours of the request.
How Verida pays providers
In Georgia, state rules set the payment floor. The broker pays providers from its capitation under the terms of each service agreement. If the agreement does not set a payment date, the broker must pay an undisputed invoice within 15 business days of receiving it. The broker also cannot withhold insurance premiums from a provider’s payments.
Georgia also protects providers on no-shows. When a member fails to board, the broker pays the provider for the first leg of the trip, as long as the provider arrived on time.
Claims questions go to Verida’s claims line. Keep a clean trip record for each leg, with arrival time, pickup time, drop-off time, and the member’s signature, so a disputed invoice has backup.
What changed in 2026
- January 2, 2026. Arkansas Region G (Pulaski, Faulkner, and Lonoke counties) moves from Verida to Modivcare.
- April 1, 2026. Verida becomes the Medicaid NEMT broker for all five Georgia regions. Modivcare exits Georgia Medicaid NEMT.
For a Georgia fleet that used to work Modivcare trips in the Central, East, or Southwest regions, the practical step is a Verida contract. Our Georgia NEMT guide covers state enrollment and licensing.

Running Verida trips with less paperwork
Georgia’s no-show and payment rules both depend on proof that you arrived on time. HealthRide’s driver app timestamps each arrival, pickup, and drop-off, records GPS miles, captures signatures on screen, and keeps the recorded wait time on no-shows. The trip log exports as CSV or PDF from reports if a broker questions a trip.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Verida the same company as Southeastrans?
- Yes. Southeastrans became Verida in 2022. The same year it moved into its current 82,000-square-foot headquarters in Villa Rica, Georgia, a 30-minute drive from Atlanta.
- Which states does Verida cover?
- Verida lists six markets: Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Washington, D.C. Since April 1, 2026 it is the only Medicaid NEMT broker for all five Georgia regions. In the other states it covers fee-for-service Medicaid, set regions, or specific health plans.
- What insurance does Verida require?
- Limits vary by state, so your provider relations manager sets the final numbers. Verida's general checklist asks for an insurer rated A- or better, general liability with $1 million sexual abuse and molestation coverage and a $2 million aggregate, and auto liability covering all owned, hired, and non-owned vehicles. Washington, D.C. also requires workers' comp and additional insured wording.
- Does Verida pay for a no-show in Georgia?
- Georgia's NEMT policy manual requires the broker to pay the provider for the first leg of a trip when the member fails to board, as long as the provider arrived on time. Drivers do not have to wait more than 10 minutes past the scheduled pickup time.
- How fast does Verida pay providers in Georgia?
- Payment follows the terms in your service agreement. If the agreement does not set a date, Georgia's NEMT policy manual requires the broker to pay an undisputed invoice within 15 business days of receiving it.
