How to become a MediDrive provider: Colorado's statewide NEMT broker
To become a MediDrive provider in Colorado, enroll with Health First Colorado as NEMT provider type 73, then submit MediDrive's online contracting application with your driver and vehicle rosters, insurance, W-9, and NPI. New companies can start enrollment on October 1, 2026, after the state moratorium ends. From January 1, 2027, MediDrive assigns and pays every Health First Colorado NEMT trip statewide.

Who MediDrive is
MediDrive (Medidrive, LLC) is the broker the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) picked to run Health First Colorado’s non-emergency medical transportation statewide. HCPF gave it the whole job: credentialing providers, managing the network, scheduling trips, and handling billing and payment. It is not a Transdev company. MediDrive replaced Transdev Health Solutions in the Denver metro on July 1, 2026, and its co-founder started at Corporate Transportation Group, a New York paratransit and NEMT operator.

The nine metro counties are Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, Jefferson, Larimer, and Weld.

How to become a MediDrive provider in Colorado
The path depends on where you stand today. HCPF’s Operational Memo 26-029 sorts providers into three groups.
- Already in the Transdev metro network. You contract with MediDrive using the exact same business name and NPI or Medicaid ID you used with Transdev. HCPF transfers your driver and vehicle rosters from Transdev’s ProCredEx system, so keep them current there.
- Already enrolled outside the metro. Start contracting from September 1, 2026. Keep verifying trips and billing HCPF directly until statewide go-live on January 1, 2027. After that you can no longer bill HCPF for NEMT.
- New company. Enroll with HCPF as NEMT provider type 73 once enrollment reopens on October 1, 2026. New providers start in the metro counties and can serve the other 55 counties once statewide service begins.
For a new company, the steps are:
- Enroll with HCPF as provider type 73. Your billing status is Performer Only, which means MediDrive, not you, bills the state.
- Apply to MediDrive through its online contracting application.
- Credential the company, drivers, and vehicles with MediDrive.
- Load your rosters into MediDrive’s scheduling system.
- Integrate your vehicles. Each vehicle’s device must work with MediDrive’s trip system, and MediDrive helps providers connect their systems.
- Start taking trips on the phase timeline for your area.
HCPF says there is no limit on how many qualified providers can contract with MediDrive. MediDrive does not require exclusivity, so you can keep your private-pay and facility work.

How trips reach you and how you get paid
Members book through the MediDrive app, its online portal, or its call center. MediDrive confirms the member’s identity and checks that the trip qualifies: a covered service, the least costly suitable option, and no other ride available. It then offers the trip to a provider with availability. You accept it and assign your own driver and vehicle through your own dispatch process. A member can ask for a preferred provider, and MediDrive honors it when that provider is contracted, eligible, and free, but a request does not guarantee future trips.
MediDrive pays for invoiced trips every two weeks. Keep every vehicle’s recording devices, safety restraints, and GPS working on every trip, and report incidents right away. MediDrive runs 24-hour dispatch support and a driver app for partners.
What changed in 2025 and 2026
- Broker change. MediDrive replaced Transdev Health Solutions in the Denver metro on July 1, 2026, and will replace county-based fee-for-service NEMT everywhere else on January 1, 2027. Transdev’s Colorado page now points members to Health First Colorado for the change.
- Enrollment reopens. HCPF extended the moratorium on new NEMT providers through September 30, 2026. New companies can enroll from October 1, 2026.
- New state law. HB26-1328, signed June 4, 2026 and in effect since July 1, 2026, makes trips by uncredentialed drivers or vehicles ineligible for payment, requires two-way video cameras and a recording system in vehicles during member trips, and has the broker publish its trip assignment rules after HCPF approves them.
- Earlier dates moved. HCPF’s May 2026 memo planned new-provider enrollment for July 2026. HCPF’s current dates put it at October 1, 2026, so rely on HCPF’s NEMT page for the latest schedule.

- When does MediDrive take over NEMT in all of Colorado?

- Can a brand-new NEMT company join MediDrive in Colorado?

- Do I have to contract with MediDrive to keep doing Medicaid trips in Colorado?
