Who American Logistics is
American Logistics is a NEMT broker based in St. George, Utah. It started in 1999 to bring its team’s experience in education and ADA transportation to healthcare. Craig Puckett is CEO. Besides NEMT for health plans, it works with public transit agencies.
A large share of its contracts are with Medicaid health plans, and many of the rest are with Medicare Advantage plans. It serves members in hundreds of health plans and says it manages trips for tens of thousands of people a day.
American Logistics was an early rideshare adopter. It announced a partnership with Uber Health in August 2019, and its network mixes rideshare, large local fleets, and small specialized companies. It keeps a nationwide transportation database of qualified providers by county, with each provider’s capabilities, and uses it to match trips to fleets.

How to become an American Logistics transportation provider
The process starts with a form and follows through a certification the company calls the Safety Society.
- Fill out the provider request form. It is on the Logistics Medical Transportation page. Have your commercial auto and general liability limits and your workers’ comp details ready.
- Confirm you use employee drivers. American Logistics contracts only with companies that have their own employee drivers, and it does not employ drivers itself.
- Pass the Safety Society review. Providers go through vehicle inspections, SAM and OIG exclusion checks, a driver list with training certificates, and extensive background checks. Every driver must be enrolled in a drug and alcohol screening program.
- Sign the Transportation Provider Agreement. You become a subcontractor to American Logistics, not an employee, and you follow applicable labor laws for your drivers.
- Certify on RideCafe. Your company certifies through the RideCafe software platform, and your drivers use the RideCafe mobile app on every trip.

How trips reach you
Trips arrive as offers in the online portal. Each offer shows the pickup city, the trip mileage, the vehicle type needed (ambulatory, wheelchair, or gurney), and the payment for completing it. Whether you take it is up to you. You review and accept the trips that make sense for your business.
The RideCafe app records timestamps and trip events live and tracks the vehicle by GPS, so drivers do not fill out paper logs. American Logistics said in June 2024 that 98 percent of its providers were using the app.
If there is an accident or incident on a trip, check on everyone, call 911 or the police as needed, and call American Logistics dispatch as soon as possible so it can notify the plan.
How American Logistics pays providers
American Logistics pays without invoicing. It collects trip fees from its health plan clients and pays you, so you never bill the plan. It calls this guaranteed touchless payment with zero invoicing.
You know the price before you accept, because it is on the offer. Rates differ because each client has its own pricing agreement. After you run trips, a daily summary of the prior day’s trips and a weekly summary of the prior week’s trips are posted on the American Logistics website.
Plan on American Logistics as one source of trips among several. The company says it cannot predict volume, does not guarantee any, and advises providers not to rely on it as their only source of income.
