Your drivers use the HealthRide driver app on their phone. Here's what happens on their side, from the invitation to the end of a shift.

## Accepting the invite

When you invite a driver, they receive an 8-character invitation code by email or SMS. In the app, the driver:

<Steps>
<Step>
Enters the invitation code. The app confirms your company name and who the invite is for.
</Step>
<Step>
Confirms their details: name, email, and phone. The email must match the one you used on the invite.
</Step>
<Step>
Enters their driver's license number and its expiration date.
</Step>
<Step>
Creates their sign-in: a password, or **Sign in with Google** or **Sign in with Apple**. If they use Google or Apple, that account's email must also match the invite.
</Step>
</Steps>

Once they finish, they're signed in and connected to your company. On your **Drivers** page, their status changes from **Invited** to **Active**, and the **Driver app** column shows "Linked".

<Callout type="warn" title="Email must match">
If the driver signs in with a Google or Apple account under a different email, the invite won't go through. Revoke the invite and send a new one to the email they actually use.
</Callout>

## Running trips

Drivers see the trips assigned to them for the day. As they work — heading to a pickup, arriving, driving with the passenger on board — the app reports their progress. You see it live in the **Now** column on the Drivers page: **En route**, **Arrived**, **On trip**, **On break**, or **Offline**.

## Starting and ending a shift

At the start of a shift, the driver checks out a vehicle in the app: they pick the vehicle, enter the starting odometer reading, and can complete a quick pre-shift inspection.

At the end of the shift, they check the vehicle back in: they enter the ending odometer reading and can add notes or a post-shift inspection. This keeps your mileage and vehicle records accurate without any typing on your end.
