# Roles and permissions

> HealthRide has six roles — Owner, Admin, Office, Dispatcher, Billing, and Viewer — and you change someone's role from Settings under Team, in the Members list.

Every person on your team has a role. The role decides what they can see and do in HealthRide.

## The six roles

- **Owner** — full access, including billing and company settings. Every company has at least one owner.
- **Admin** — manages the team, settings, and daily operations.
- **Office** — manages passengers, trips, and scheduling.
- **Dispatcher** — assigns and dispatches trips to drivers.
- **Billing** — handles invoices, claims, and payments.
- **Viewer** — read-only access to trips and reports. Good for someone who needs to look things up but should not change anything.

To see the full permission list behind each role, open **Settings**, choose **Team**, then click **Roles & permissions**. Each role card shows every permission it includes.

## Change someone's role

<Steps>
<Step>
Open **Settings** and choose **Team**.
</Step>
<Step>
Under **Members**, find the person in the **Team members** list.
</Step>
<Step>
Click the role dropdown next to their name and pick the new role. The change saves right away — there is no separate save button.
</Step>
</Steps>

A few rules apply:

- You cannot change your own role. Ask another owner or admin to do it for you.
- You can only assign roles below your own level. For example, an admin cannot make someone an owner. Owners can assign any role.
- If the dropdown is grayed out, the person's role is at or above yours.

## Remove someone's access

You do not delete team members — you deactivate them. In the **Team members** list, click **Deactivate** next to the person's name. They can no longer sign in, but their history stays in your records. Click **Activate** to restore their access later.

When you invite a new employee from the Team page, you pick their role as part of the invitation. You can always change it later from the Members list.
